Booking a hotel in Da Lat? Know the province and new address
Since July 1, 2025, Da Lat has remained part of Lam Dong Province, but it is no longer a separate city-level administrative unit. Hotel addresses now use newly established wards instead of the former 12 wards and four communes.

Da Lat (Đà Lạt) is in Lam Dong (Lâm Đồng) Province, in Vietnam's Central Highlands. Following Vietnam's administrative restructuring in 2025, Da Lat remains a well-known mountain destination, but the official way of writing local addresses has changed.
To book a room or a ride, you need the correct ward and the exact location of the hotel, restaurant or attraction. An address that just says "Da Lat, Lam Dong" may be enough to find the general area, but it is not enough to tell a driver exactly where to go.
Where is Da Lat in Vietnam?
Da Lat sits on the Lam Vien Plateau in the southern part of Vietnam's Central Highlands, at an average elevation of approximately 1,500 meters above sea level. It is an inland mountain destination, surrounded by hills, farmland and pine forests. The urban center developed around Xuan Huong Lake and the Hoa Binh area, which remain useful landmarks for visitors.
You can identify Da Lat using three basic details:
- Province: Lam Dong Province.
- Geographical region: Central Highlands, Vietnam.
- Central landmarks: Xuan Huong Lake, Da Lat Market and Lam Vien Square.
On a map of Vietnam, Da Lat is northeast of Ho Chi Minh City and west of the Nha Trang area. Unlike Nha Trang or Mui Ne, Da Lat is not a coastal destination. Its cooler temperatures and mountain setting are a big part of what sets it apart from the surrounding lowlands.

International travelers can find it fastest by entering "Da Lat, Lam Dong, Vietnam" into Google Maps or Apple Maps.
Both "Da Lat" and "Dalat" refer to the same place. You will also see "Da Lat City" in travel guides, hotel listings and older documents, even though its former city-level administrative status changed in July 2025.
Is Da Lat in Central Vietnam?
Geographically, Da Lat belongs to Vietnam's Central Highlands rather than the coastal lowlands of Central Vietnam.
The confusion is understandable, since many travelers combine Da Lat with Nha Trang, Phan Rang or Mui Ne on the same trip. Sharing an itinerary does not put them in the same geographical region.
The distinction became less obvious after the 2025 administrative merger, when Lam Dong Province expanded to include areas that previously belonged to coastal Binh Thuan Province. Despite this change, Da Lat itself has not moved. It remains on the plateau, while the coastal areas of the enlarged province are much farther away.
What is the best landmark for finding central Da Lat?
Xuan Huong Lake is a useful reference point for central Da Lat.
The lake is surrounded by roads, hotels, cafes and several familiar attractions. Da Lat Market and the Hoa Binh area are also easy to recognize on a map.
Not every property with a Da Lat address is close to the lake, though. Accommodation in Ta Nung, Xuan Truong or parts of the Lang Biang area can be considerably farther from the center.
What province is Da Lat in after the 2025 merger?
Da Lat is still part of Lam Dong Province.
On June 12, 2025, Vietnam's National Assembly adopted a resolution merging the former provinces of Lam Dong, Dak Nong and Binh Thuan into one enlarged province. The new province kept the name Lam Dong, and the reorganized provincial administration officially began operating on July 1, 2025.
Before the merger, most visitors associated Lam Dong with Da Lat, Bao Loc and the surrounding highland areas known for tea, coffee, flowers and vegetables.
The province now covers a much larger territory, including areas formerly administered by Dak Nong and Binh Thuan. Destinations such as Gia Nghia, Phan Thiet and Mui Ne are now within Lam Dong Province.

There are two things worth remembering.
First, Da Lat was not transferred to a province with a different name. It was in Lam Dong before the merger and remains in Lam Dong afterward.
Second, the boundaries of Lam Dong Province have expanded significantly. Two destinations listed under Lam Dong Province may be nowhere near each other.
This matters when searching for accommodation, because a hotel platform that filters properties only by "Lam Dong Province" may include hotels in several widely separated destinations. Select Da Lat as your destination first, then check each property's location on the map.
Why do some websites still say "Da Lat City"?
Before July 1, 2025, Da Lat was officially a provincial city within Lam Dong Province. Vietnam's switch to a two-tier local government system ended the former district-level administrative structure, including provincial cities as administrative units. As a result, Da Lat is no longer organized as a separate city-level administrative unit in the way it was before July 2025.
The name itself lives on in everyday language, tourism, commerce and geographical references. You will still see names such as Da Lat Market, Da Lat Railway Station, Da Lat hotels and Da Lat tourism.
Booking platforms and map apps may also keep displaying "Da Lat City" because it remains a familiar and useful search term, not because it reflects the current administrative structure.
In everyday usage, Da Lat remains a recognized city and travel destination, but it no longer has the same administrative status it held before July 2025.
What are Da Lat's five new wards?
On June 16, 2025, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued a resolution reorganizing the former Da Lat administrative area into five new wards. One of these wards, Lang Biang - Da Lat, also includes territory from the former Lac Duong District. The new administrative units began operating on July 1, 2025.
| New ward | Areas included before the merger |
|---|---|
| Xuan Huong - Da Lat | Former Wards 1, 2, 3, 4 and 10 of Da Lat |
| Cam Ly - Da Lat | Former Wards 5 and 6, plus Ta Nung Commune |
| Lam Vien - Da Lat | Former Wards 8, 9 and 12 |
| Xuan Truong - Da Lat | Former Ward 11 and Xuan Tho, Xuan Truong and Tram Hanh communes |
| Lang Biang - Da Lat | Former Ward 7 of Da Lat, Lac Duong Town and Lat Commune |
This table comes in handy when comparing addresses published before and after July 2025.
Xuan Huong - Da Lat: the main tourist center
Xuan Huong - Da Lat is the first ward to check if you want accommodation near central Da Lat. It was formed by merging former Wards 1, 2, 3, 4 and 10.
The area includes several familiar landmarks:
- Da Lat Market and the Hoa Binh area.
- Xuan Huong Lake.
- Lam Vien Square.
- Da Lat Railway Station.
- Many central shopping, dining and accommodation streets.
For example, Da Lat Market is on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, within Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward. Previously, its address was given as Ward 1, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province. The old Ward 1 address and the new Xuan Huong - Da Lat address refer to the same general area, not two different markets.
Travelers who want to walk to Da Lat Market or Xuan Huong Lake should begin their hotel search here.

Still, the ward is larger than the immediate market neighborhood, and not every hotel in Xuan Huong - Da Lat is a five-minute walk from the market.
Cam Ly - Da Lat: western Da Lat and the Ta Nung area
Cam Ly - Da Lat was formed from former Wards 5 and 6 and Ta Nung Commune.
Its territory extends from residential areas fairly close to central Da Lat toward the western and southwestern countryside. Parts of the area are known for farming, flower growing, rural scenery and tourism businesses built around the landscape, and Van Thanh Flower Village is one of the familiar destinations in this part of Da Lat.
You may come across Cam Ly - Da Lat addresses when looking for homestays, villas, countryside accommodation or farm-related attractions.
The new ward includes the former Ta Nung Commune, so a hotel in the former Ward 5 area and a homestay farther into Ta Nung may share the same new ward name and sit very different distances from central Da Lat. Travel time depends on the road, address or map pin, not the ward name.
Lam Vien - Da Lat: former Wards 8, 9 and 12
Lam Vien - Da Lat was established from former Wards 8, 9 and 12. The area lies mainly to the north and northeast of central Da Lat and includes residential neighborhoods, schools and hilly landscapes.
One detail regularly causes confusion: Lam Vien Ward and Lam Vien Square are not the same location.

The name of a famous landmark tells you nothing about which ward it is in. In an accurate address, the ward follows the property's specific location.
Xuan Truong - Da Lat: eastern and southeastern areas
Xuan Truong - Da Lat was established from former Ward 11 and the communes of Xuan Tho, Xuan Truong and Tram Hanh. It covers a relatively large area with villages, farmland and highland scenery.
Before July 2025, Xuan Truong commonly appeared in addresses as "Xuan Truong Commune, Da Lat City". The former commune is now part of the larger Xuan Truong - Da Lat Ward. The same applies to places formerly addressed under Tram Hanh Commune and Xuan Tho Commune.
Because the new ward includes more than the old Xuan Truong Commune, two businesses with the same new ward name may be located a considerable distance apart. Pin down the property's exact location before arranging transport.
Lang Biang - Da Lat: an area extending beyond former Da Lat City
Lang Biang - Da Lat was formed from former Ward 7 of Da Lat, Lac Duong Town and Lat Commune.
This ward deserves extra attention when checking older addresses. Before the merger, Lac Duong Town and Lat Commune belonged to Lac Duong District, not Da Lat City. Following the restructuring, these areas became part of Lang Biang - Da Lat Ward.
You may come across this new ward name when searching for places north of Da Lat, including locations around the Lang Biang area.

A hotel listed in Lang Biang - Da Lat Ward can therefore be well outside the urban center of Da Lat. The name "Lang Biang" can also refer to the mountain, the tourist attraction, the wider area or the new administrative ward.
When checking a booking, look at the precise location and the property's name; "Lang Biang" alone tells you very little.
How have Da Lat addresses changed since July 2025?
The biggest change is to the administrative parts of an address, not the physical location of streets and buildings.
Before July 1, 2025, an address in Da Lat followed this structure:
House number, street name, former ward, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province, Vietnam.
Under the new administrative system, it looks like this:
House number, street name, new ward, Lam Dong Province, Vietnam.
Example: Da Lat Market
Da Lat Market is a useful example because its location is well established.
Address under the former administrative system:
Da Lat Market, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Ward 1, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province, Vietnam.
Address under the current administrative system:
Da Lat Market, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward, Lam Dong Province, Vietnam.
Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street has not moved because of the merger, and neither has the market. The administrative change is that former Ward 1 is now part of Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward, and the old city-level line is gone.
Other addresses work the same way, provided you know which ward or commune the property belonged to before the merger.
Which parts of an address remain the same?
An administrative merger changes only some parts of an address.
For Da Lat properties, check the following separately:
- House number: Confirm it with the property or business.
- Street name: A street does not receive a new name because of an administrative merger.
- Ward or commune: This is the main change; see the five-ward table above.
- City-level designation: The former administrative level is no longer used in the same way.
- Province: The name remains Lam Dong.
An old hotel listing that says Ward 9, Da Lat City, for example, points to an area that is now part of Lam Vien - Da Lat Ward.
But when preparing a delivery address, invoice or booking record, you should still confirm the current house number, street name and official business details. Swapping in the new ward name is not enough on its own.
Do you need to update every saved address?
The Da Lat locations saved on your phone can stay as they are; ordinary trip planning does not call for editing each one by hand. Old addresses may still lead to the correct property, especially when the location has been accurately pinned on a map.
Update only the addresses you use for new transactions, such as bookings, deliveries or formal records. Where a property's current address is unclear, ask the business directly; guesswork is how wrong addresses spread.
How to find the correct Da Lat address on Google Maps
An accurate map pin is often more useful to a traveler than a complete administrative address. There are two practical ways to search for Da Lat, depending on what you need.
Method 1: search for Da Lat to see the general area
Enter one of these phrases:
- Da Lat, Lam Dong
- Da Lat, Vietnam
- Dalat Vietnam
- Xuan Huong Lake, Da Lat
This works when you want to see where Da Lat is located, identify the urban center or get a general idea of its surrounding areas.
The result may show a representative point for the destination, not a specific building, so it is no use to a driver as your exact pickup or drop-off location.
Method 2: search for a specific property or landmark
This is the better option once you know which hotel, homestay, restaurant or attraction you want to visit.
Searching for "Da Lat Market Nguyen Thi Minh Khai", for example, gives the map enough information to identify the correct market, which "Da Lat" alone does not.
Hotels are easiest to find by searching the property's name and street address together. Then compare the listing's photos, address and position with the details provided by the hotel.
Some hotels have multiple branches, while smaller homestays may use very similar names, so a business name alone may not lead you to the correct location.
What if Google Maps still shows the old address?
Map services and booking platforms update administrative names on their own schedules. Some may display the new wards, while others continue showing Ward 1, Ward 2 or Da Lat City.
If that happens, check three things:
- Does the business name match?
- Do the house number and street name match your booking?
- Has the property confirmed that the map pin is correct?
A listing with an old ward name can still give the right directions, and one with the correct new ward name can still have an inaccurate map pin.
An address and map location that disagree are your cue to contact the property before traveling there.
What should you check when booking a hotel in Da Lat?
A booking platform that still displays "Da Lat City" is nothing to worry about. The real work is choosing the right location and making sure you can find the accommodation when you arrive.
Check the neighborhood before paying
Many international booking platforms continue using "Da Lat" or "Da Lat City" as the destination name. Search that destination as usual, then open the map for each property on your shortlist and examine its location.
To stay near Da Lat Market, Xuan Huong Lake or the Hoa Binh area, start with accommodation around central Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward.
Accommodation in Cam Ly, Xuan Truong or Lang Biang needs a closer look at distance and road access.
The "- Da Lat" ending on an address says nothing about how close a homestay is to the center, since all five new ward names contain that suffix.
Ask the hotel to confirm its current address
This gives you two useful pieces of information: the current administrative address for your records, and a confirmed location that you can share with a driver.
Homestays in narrow lanes, on steep roads or with an entrance away from the main street need one more question: can a car reach the entrance, or is there a better drop-off point?
Booking accommodation as an international visitor
International travelers often search for hotels using "Da Lat, Lam Dong Province, Vietnam", a clear way to identify the destination and province.
The full property address works better with the Vietnamese ward name kept as it is.
A hotel in Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward, for example, can be described in English while the actual address keeps the original Vietnamese place name. This makes it easier to compare the information with local maps and documents.
Hotels that already provide an official English-language address save you the trouble of translating it yourself.
Should you use old or new addresses when booking a taxi?
Taxis and ride-hailing apps need an accurate map pin, not just the ward name.
A ward identifies an administrative area, but a driver needs to know the specific pickup or drop-off point.
Take a trip to Da Lat Market: "Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward" is too broad to be a useful destination, so select the market itself on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street.
The same applies when arranging a pickup from your hotel. Send the property location and confirm where the vehicle can stop.
A hotel may face a main road but have its vehicle entrance around the back. Larger vehicles may also have trouble reaching properties on narrow or steep lanes.
What if a driver asks whether you mean old Da Lat or old Lac Duong?
This may happen when traveling to Lang Biang - Da Lat Ward.
Before the restructuring, Ward 7 belonged to Da Lat City, while Lac Duong Town and Lat Commune belonged to Lac Duong District. These areas are now combined within the same new ward, so "Lang Biang - Da Lat Ward" on its own may not tell the driver where you are going.
Give the landmark, street or property name, then share the map pin. Do the same in geographically large wards such as Cam Ly and Xuan Truong.
What if the app cannot find the new ward?
Try searching for the street name, hotel name or former administrative address. When the correct property appears, check its location and confirm it with the business.
A result with a matching ward name might point to a ward administration office or a general area, not your hotel.
Common confusions about Da Lat's new address system
Confusing Da Lat with the whole of Lam Dong Province
Da Lat is only one part of the enlarged province. It is not another name for the entire province.
Mui Ne and Phan Thiet are also in Lam Dong Province under the new administrative arrangement, but they are not part of Da Lat's urban area.

When booking accommodation or transport, identify the destination as well as the province.
Confusing ward names with tourist attractions
Xuan Huong - Da Lat Ward includes Xuan Huong Lake, but not every address in the ward is right beside the lake.
Lam Vien - Da Lat Ward is not where Lam Vien Square is located. A business in Lang Biang - Da Lat Ward can also be some distance from the Lang Biang tourist attraction.
Administrative names should not be used as substitutes for precise map locations.
Assuming old commune names have disappeared completely
Names such as Ta Nung, Xuan Tho, Xuan Truong and Tram Hanh continue to identify familiar local areas, even though they have lost their former administrative status.
Ta Nung, for example, is no longer a separate commune under the current administrative structure, but the name still appears in the names of attractions, roads, businesses and everyday directions. Keep using these local names when searching.
Mistaking an old address for a current official address
A travel article published in 2023 might list a property as being in "Ward 10, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province". That reflects the administrative system in use when the article was written.
The old street and business name can still find the property, as long as it operates at the same physical location. For deliveries, official declarations or business paperwork, though, confirm the current address.
How to check whether a Da Lat address is correct
Check an unfamiliar address by working from the general location to the specific property.
Step 1: confirm Lam Dong Province
International visitors who are unfamiliar with Vietnam's geography need this step most.
Step 2: confirm that the destination is in the Da Lat area
The province name alone is not enough. You need to tell Da Lat apart from other destinations in the enlarged Lam Dong Province.
Step 3: check the new ward
The five-ward table above covers this step: look up the old ward or commune to find the matching new administrative area.
For example, a property formerly listed under Ward 8 of Da Lat is now within Lam Vien - Da Lat Ward.
Step 4: check the house number and street
These details distinguish individual properties within the same ward. They matter most on streets with many hotels, guesthouses or businesses with similar names.
Step 5: confirm the map pin
An address can be administratively correct while the map pin is still in the wrong place.
Ask a homestay for the exact entrance and directions if necessary. Places outside the center also need a check on whether the access road suits the vehicle you are using.
Where to check new ward names
For official administrative boundaries, go to government resolutions and official local authority websites first.
The two key legal documents are:
- Resolution No. 202/2025/QH15 on the reorganization of provincial-level administrative units.
- Resolution No. 1671/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the reorganization of commune-level administrative units in Lam Dong Province in 2025.
Each new ward also has its own page on the Lam Dong government web portal.
For hotel entrances, restaurants and tourist attractions, maps and directions provided directly by the business are usually more practical. These serve different purposes: official documents set administrative boundaries, while maps help you reach a physical location.
What visitors need to remember about Da Lat today
Three points are enough to plan a trip to Da Lat.
First, Da Lat is still in Lam Dong Province. The 2025 merger did not move it into a province with a different name.
Second, the former Da Lat City is no longer a separate city-level administrative unit. Its former territory was reorganized into five new wards, with Lang Biang - Da Lat also taking in parts of the former Lac Duong District.
Third, Da Lat remains the normal name of the travel destination. When booking accommodation or arranging transport, the property's exact location matters more than the administrative label.
As for old versus new addresses: use the current ward name for address records, but use the confirmed property name and map pin for navigation. That keeps your information in line with the new administrative system without making it harder to find your way around Da Lat.

What province is Da Lat in after the 2025 merger?
Da Lat remains in Lam Dong Province. The major change is that the former Da Lat City is no longer a city-level administrative unit. Its territory was reorganized into the new wards of Xuan Huong - Da Lat, Cam Ly - Da Lat, Lam Vien - Da Lat, Xuan Truong - Da Lat and part of Lang Biang - Da Lat.
How many new wards does Da Lat have?
Five new wards include territory from the former Da Lat City. All five names have the "- Da Lat" suffix. Lang Biang - Da Lat also includes the former Lac Duong Town and Lat Commune, which previously belonged to Lac Duong District.
Where is Dalat in Vietnam?
Dalat, also written Da Lat, is in Lam Dong Province in Vietnam's Central Highlands. It is an inland mountain destination northeast of Ho Chi Minh City and west of the Nha Trang area. Xuan Huong Lake and Da Lat Market are useful landmarks for identifying the central urban area.
Should I use an old or new Da Lat address when booking a hotel?
Use the property's current administrative address, including its new ward name, when providing official booking or delivery information. For directions, use the exact hotel name and a confirmed map pin. An old address may still work for searching, but it should not replace verified current information when an official address is required.
