How much does a Ha Long Bay cruise cost, and which one should you choose?

For your first visit to Ha Long Bay, a 2-day, 1-night cruise gives you an evening and an early morning on the water. Choose three days if you want more time for kayaking and exploring, or take a day cruise if your schedule is tight.

Sightseeing boats among Ha Long Bay’s limestone islands

A cruise advertised at VND 4,200,000 per person is very different from one priced at USD 330 per cabin. The first rate is charged per guest, while the second usually covers a room for two people. Before booking a Ha Long Bay cruise, check three things: which bay the ship visits, how much time you actually spend on the water, and exactly what the package includes.

Should you choose a day cruise, one night, or two nights?

For most first-time visitors, one night on Ha Long Bay is enough.

A 2-day, 1-night cruise gives you time for dinner on board, an overnight stay surrounded by limestone islands, an early morning on the water, and activities such as cave visits, kayaking, or bamboo boat rides.

Two nights make more sense if you want to explore further into the bay without rushing between stops.

Cruise typeActual time on the bayBest for
Day cruiseAround 6-8 hoursTravelers with limited time who prefer sleeping on land
2 days, 1 nightFrom around midday on day one until late morning on day twoFirst-time visitors, couples, and families
3 days, 2 nightsFrom around midday on day one until late morning on day threeKayaking enthusiasts and travelers who prefer a slower pace

The important detail is that a 2-day, 1-night cruise does not give you two full days of sightseeing.

Take Paradise Elegance as an example.

Guests usually arrive at Tuan Chau around 12:00-12:15 PM and board before lunch. The cruise finishes the following morning at approximately 10:15-10:30 AM.

That means you spend about 22 hours on board, including meals, sleeping, and check-in procedures.

For many people, that is still enough.

The most enjoyable parts of an overnight cruise often happen in the late afternoon, during dinner, and early the next morning. Instead of returning to a hotel after sightseeing, you stay among the limestone islands.

A 3-day, 2-night cruise works differently.

The main advantage is the second day. Rather than packing your bags after breakfast, you get another full day to explore.

However, do not assume the main cruise ship travels continuously into more remote areas.

Many operators transfer guests to a smaller day boat for excursions, while the main ship remains elsewhere with the cabins and most of the luggage.

Ask about this arrangement before booking, especially if you are traveling with young children or elderly relatives.

Ha Long Bay, Lan Ha Bay, or Bai Tu Long Bay: which is better?

All three bays have limestone formations, sheltered waters, and beautiful cruising areas.

The real differences are the routes, visitor numbers, activities, and types of cruise ships available.

There is no need to chase whichever bay is advertised as the most beautiful. Choose the itinerary that matches how you want to spend your time.

Ha Long Bay

Best for first-time visitors

Rowing boats and kayaks file through the arch at Luon Cave, everyone in life jackets.

Ha Long Bay is the simplest choice if you want to visit famous attractions such as Sung Sot Cave, Ti Top Island, and Luon Cave.

Cruises such as Paradise Elegance combine cave visits, viewpoints, and kayaking or bamboo boat excursions.

At Ti Top Island, you can climb the steps to a viewpoint overlooking the bay. At Luon Cave, you can explore a sheltered lagoon by kayak or bamboo boat.

The advantage of this route is that you get to see the scenery most people associate with Ha Long Bay.

The downside is the number of visitors.

Popular stops can become crowded, particularly on weekends and when several cruise ships arrive around the same time.

The climb to the Ti Top viewpoint also involves quite a few steps.

If you are traveling with someone who has difficulty climbing, they can remain near the beach instead of joining the full hike.

Choose Ha Long Bay if: This is your first visit and you want to see Sung Sot Cave, Ti Top Island, and the area's best-known limestone scenery.

Lan Ha Bay

Best for kayaking and relaxation

Lan Ha Bay lies to the east and south of Cat Ba Island, in Hai Phong.

Many Lan Ha Bay cruises still depart from Tuan Chau or Ha Long International Cruise Port before sailing toward Lan Ha.

You do not necessarily need to travel to Cat Ba Island first.

Orchid Classic is one example.

The operator receives guests at Lot 32, Tuan Chau International Marina. Passengers then transfer by speedboat to the main cruise ship before beginning the journey through Ha Long and Lan Ha.

Lan Ha itineraries may include areas such as Ao Ech, Tra Bau, Dark and Bright Cave, or Ba Trai Dao, depending on the operator and approved route.

Compared with the classic Ha Long sightseeing circuit, many Lan Ha itineraries focus more on kayaking, swimming where permitted, and relaxing on board.

Some areas have fewer cruise ships, but that does not mean Lan Ha Bay is always quiet.

Popular kayaking spots can still become busy during peak travel periods.

Choose Lan Ha Bay if: You enjoy kayaking, want time in a cabin with a private balcony, and are less concerned about visiting Ha Long Bay's most famous attractions.

Bai Tu Long Bay

Best for quieter cruising routes

Bai Tu Long Bay lies northeast of Ha Long Bay.

Overnight itineraries here generally do not include Sung Sot Cave or Ti Top Island.

Instead, cruises may visit Thien Canh Son Cave, Cap La, Cong Do, or Vung Vieng Fishing Village.

Dragon Legend by Indochina Junk is a useful example.

Its 2-day, 1-night itinerary explores Bai Tu Long Bay, with activities such as visiting Thien Canh Son Cave, kayaking, and taking a rowing boat around Vung Vieng.

This area suits travelers who have already visited Ha Long Bay or would rather avoid the busiest sightseeing stops.

However, fewer cruise ships do not necessarily mean lower prices.

Smaller vessels with good service and more specialized routes can still be expensive.

Choose Bai Tu Long Bay if: You prefer nature, quieter routes, and a traditional cruising experience over large swimming pools or extensive onboard entertainment.

Can you visit both Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay on one cruise?

Yes.

Cross-bay cruise operations connecting Ha Long and Lan Ha officially began under a coordinated arrangement between Quang Ninh and Hai Phong in 2026.

Some programs operated by The Au Co, part of Bhaya Cruises, and Ambassador Signature use routes connecting the two bays.

However, not every cruise advertised as a Ha Long - Lan Ha itinerary explores both areas extensively.

Some simply pass through part of the connecting route.

Ask for the actual sightseeing stops rather than relying on the names of the bays in the advertisement.

What is included in a 2-day, 1-night Ha Long Bay cruise?

An overnight cruise package usually includes your cabin, meals listed in the itinerary, sightseeing fees, and some onboard activities.

Many luxury cruises begin boarding between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM and return to port between 10:00 AM and noon the following day.

You generally do not need to bring your own main meals.

What matters more is whether drinks, kayaking, bamboo boat trips, and transfers from Hanoi are included.

Afternoon: boarding and sightseeing

After boarding, you usually have lunch while the ship leaves the harbor and enters the bay.

The afternoon is commonly reserved for one or two activities, such as visiting a cave, kayaking, riding a bamboo boat, or swimming in a designated area.

On Paradise Elegance, Ti Top Island is scheduled for approximately 2:30-3:30 PM, followed by Luon Cave from 3:45-4:45 PM.

Actual schedules may change according to operating conditions and weather.

You do not have to participate in every activity simply because it is included in the package.

After a two- or three-hour drive from Hanoi, some travelers prefer to have lunch and relax for a while.

You can usually skip an excursion and stay on board, provided you inform the staff.

Evening: the main reason to stay overnight

For many travelers, this is the part that makes an overnight cruise worth paying for.

Around 5:00-6:30 PM, most sightseeing activities finish and passengers return to the ship.

You can sit on the deck, take photographs, or enjoy a drink before dinner.

Some cruise programs include cooking demonstrations, live music, squid fishing, or film screenings.

These are not standard features on every ship, so check the itinerary.

Overnight vessels anchor in designated areas of the bay.

After dinner, you can return to your cabin or spend time on deck.

Do not expect hotel-quality internet everywhere.

Mobile coverage and Wi-Fi can become weak or unavailable in certain parts of the bay.

Morning: breakfast and return to port

Many programs begin around 6:00-7:00 AM with light exercise, tai chi, or breakfast.

Depending on the itinerary, there may be one final sightseeing activity before guests check out and the ship returns to port.

Avoid arranging a private transfer or connecting flight too close to the published arrival time.

The ship still needs to dock, disembark passengers, and unload luggage.

If you are spending only a short time in northern Vietnam, it is better to schedule the overnight cruise in the middle of your trip rather than immediately before an important international flight.

When is a 3-day, 2-night Ha Long Bay cruise worth it?

Pay for a second night when you genuinely want another full day to explore the bay.

On the Paradise Elegance 3-day, 2-night itinerary, passengers transfer to the Paradise Explorer day boat on the second day.

Activities include visiting Tien Ong Cave and the Cua Van Fishing Village area before returning to the main ship.

That is a meaningful difference from the one-night program.

Instead of packing your luggage early on day two, you can spend more time kayaking, taking photographs, and reaching areas beyond the most common sightseeing routes.

However, a day boat transfer is not suitable for everyone.

Families with small children should ask how often passengers need to move between boats.

Elderly travelers should check the steps, boarding arrangements, and accessibility of different areas.

If your main goal is to relax in your cabin, enjoy the scenery from a balcony, and have leisurely meals, two nights may be worthwhile.

If you get bored spending long periods on a ship, one night may be enough.

The price difference is also substantial.

In 2026, the Ambassador I 3-day, 2-night package starts from VND 8,400,000 per person.

The same operator's 2-day, 1-night package starts from VND 4,200,000 per person.

Before paying twice as much, look carefully at what happens on the second day.

A longer cruise is worthwhile when the additional excursions or relaxation time are things you actually want.

Is a Ha Long Bay day cruise worth it?

Yes, particularly if you are staying in Hanoi, Hai Phong, or Quang Ninh and do not want to dedicate two days to a boat trip.

A full-day cruise usually spends around six to eight hours on the bay.

Some larger day-cruise ships have restaurants, spacious viewing decks, hot tubs, or entertainment facilities.

Ambassador Day Cruise is an example.

The ship departs from Ha Long International Cruise Port in Bai Chay.

Its sightseeing program includes places such as Sung Sot Cave, Luon Cave, and Ti Top Island.

The lit walkway winds between rock formations inside Sung Sot Cave.

Guests check in around 9:00 AM, and the cruise returns at approximately 4:30-4:45 PM.

In 2026, day cruises start from VND 1,600,000 per person, although the final price depends on the package and departure date.

This option works well if you want to spend a substantial amount of time on the water but prefer staying in a hotel afterward.

Do not confuse a sightseeing day cruise with a dinner cruise.

A dinner cruise usually lasts only a few hours and focuses on dining, nearby scenery, or entertainment.

It is not a substitute for a longer excursion to caves and islands.

If seeing Ha Long Bay's limestone scenery is your priority, choose a six- to eight-hour sightseeing cruise rather than a short dinner-only trip.

How much does a Ha Long Bay cruise cost in 2026?

Ha Long Bay cruise prices depend on the number of nights, cruising route, cabin category, departure date, and booking channel.

One important distinction: a "from" price is not necessarily the price available for your preferred travel date.

Here are the 2026 starting prices for a few ships.

Cruise and itinerary2026 starting price
Ambassador Day Cruise, Ha Long BayVND 1,600,000/person
Ambassador I, 2 days and 1 nightVND 4,200,000/person
Ambassador Signature, Lan Ha Bay, 2 days and 1 nightVND 4,200,000/person
Ambassador I, 3 days and 2 nightsVND 8,400,000/person
Dragon Legend, Bai Tu Long Bay, 2 days and 1 nightUSD 245/person

These are starting rates, not confirmed booking quotations.

Payment conditions, cabin occupancy, and included services can vary.

For example, Ambassador Signature also has a Retreat Voyage package from USD 330 per cabin, with promotional conditions valid until December 31, 2026.

That rate is for two guests sharing one cabin and is tied to the specific package conditions.

How to calculate the cost for two people

Suppose you book the Ambassador I 2-day, 1-night package at the starting rate of VND 4,200,000 per person.

For two adults sharing one cabin:

VND 4,200,000 x 2 = VND 8,400,000.

That is the basic package cost.

You still need to check airport or hotel transfers, drinks, kayaking, holiday surcharges, and any other extras.

Solo travelers should not simply assume they pay the listed per-person price.

Many cruise rates are based on two guests sharing a cabin, with a single supplement for someone traveling alone.

Families of three should ask whether the cabin accommodates three people, whether an extra bed is available, and how child fares are calculated.

Do not assume a young child is automatically free just because they share the existing bed.

Should you choose the cheapest cruise?

Not necessarily.

A cheaper cruise might exclude transportation from Hanoi, kayaking, or drinks.

A slightly more expensive package may include services you were already planning to purchase.

Ask for the final total for your group and compare equivalent packages.

For a first overnight trip, you probably do not need the largest suite on the ship.

A clean cabin with a good window, private bathroom, and comfortable bed can be perfectly adequate for one night.

It is often better to spend the difference on a suitable itinerary, good food, and reliable service.

What is included in a Ha Long Bay cruise package, and what costs extra?

Do not stop reading when a listing says "all-inclusive."

Look for the Inclusions and Exclusions sections.

An all-inclusive cruise package does not necessarily cover the entire journey from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay.

Services usually included

The Paradise Elegance 2-day, 1-night program includes services such as one night in a cabin, scheduled meals, bottled water in the room, tai chi activities, sightseeing fees, taxes, service charges, and onboard insurance.

Activities such as cooking demonstrations may also be included.

Ambassador Signature's 2026 Retreat Voyage promotion includes additional benefits, such as non-alcoholic beverages under the package conditions and a 45-minute wellness treatment per guest per night.

That can make a difference if you plan to use the spa or order several drinks.

Costs that may be excluded

Hanoi - Ha Long transfers: Check this first. Many operators arrange limousine or shared transfers, but charge separately.

Drinks: Bottled water in your cabin may be complimentary, while soft drinks, beer, wine, and cocktails at the bar are charged separately. Even all-inclusive beverage packages can have restrictions.

Kayaking and bamboo boats: Policies vary between operators. Paradise Elegance does not include kayaking in its 2-day, 1-night program, while other cruises may include it.

Spa treatments: Massage and wellness services usually cost extra unless your package specifically includes them.

Single supplements: Travelers occupying a cabin alone may face an additional charge.

Holiday and child surcharges: Prices and child policies differ between companies. Do not use an ordinary weekday rate to estimate the cost of traveling during Tet or another major holiday.

Port and sightseeing fees: These are separate categories.

At Ha Long International Cruise Port, the passenger port fee effective July 1, 2026, is VND 80,000 per person for the combined outbound and return journey, including VAT.

Bay sightseeing fees depend on the approved route.

The VHL2 day sightseeing route, covering attractions such as Ti Top, Sung Sot, and Luon Cave, has a fee of VND 250,000 per person.

However, many overnight cruise packages already include the required port and sightseeing fees.

Do not add those charges again if the booking confirmation clearly states they are included.

How to request an accurate quote

Instead of asking only, "How much is this cruise?", send the operator a more specific message:

International travelers should request a written quotation showing the currency, child policy, payment deadline, and cancellation conditions.

If paying with a foreign currency or international credit card, ask about the exchange rate and transaction fees.

What is different about a 5-star Ha Long Bay cruise?

The most noticeable differences are usually cabin quality and onboard facilities.

Luxury cruise ships may offer spacious rooms, private balconies, bathtubs overlooking the bay, full-service restaurants, spas, or swimming pools.

However, not every ship advertised as a 5-star cruise has all these features.

Vietnam's Tourism Law 2017, Article 50, provides for star classification of tourist accommodation establishments, including tourist accommodation vessels, according to national standards.

Registration for official star classification is voluntary.

If a website advertises a cruise as "5-star," you can ask for its valid official classification decision if you want to verify whether the label represents an officially recognized rating or simply a marketing description.

What should you check in the cabin?

Start with the room size and window type.

A cabin with a private balcony is different from one with a large glass window.

A room described as having a bay view may also have a partially obstructed outlook.

Next, check the location of the cabin.

Rooms close to restaurants, bars, or machinery areas may be less suitable for people who want a quiet night's sleep.

Finally, look at the bathroom, air conditioning, and sleeping arrangements.

These details can matter more than a picture of the swimming pool.

Luxury does not necessarily mean privacy.

Some high-end ships are large, with many cabins, restaurants, and shared facilities.

A smaller boutique cruise may provide a more intimate atmosphere.

When is paying for a 5-star cruise worth it?

Couples celebrating a special occasion may appreciate a private balcony because they plan to spend more time in their room.

Families with children may value a spacious cabin, suitable meals, and convenient facilities.

Travelers who mainly want to kayak, visit caves, and enjoy the scenery do not necessarily need the most expensive room category.

A comfortable standard cabin on a ship with a good itinerary may be a better purchase than an expensive suite on a route that does not match your interests.

Which port do Ha Long Bay cruises depart from?

Two main departure ports are commonly used for overnight cruises on the Quang Ninh side.

Tuan Chau International Marina

Tuan Chau is an island connected to the mainland and serves as a departure point for many Ha Long and Lan Ha Bay cruises.

Paradise Elegance handles passenger check-in around 12:00-12:15 PM at Tuan Chau.

Orchid Classic receives guests at Lot 32, Tuan Chau International Marina, around 11:00-11:30 AM.

Pay attention to the difference between lounge check-in time and the actual ship departure.

Some companies also use a smaller transfer boat to bring guests from the marina to the main cruise vessel.

Ha Long International Cruise Port

This port is located in Bai Chay, near Sun World Ha Long.

Ambassador Cruise operates itineraries departing from this area.

Indochina Junk also uses Ha Long International Cruise Port for its Dragon Legend program to Bai Tu Long Bay.

Dragon Legend passengers are instructed to arrive at the operator's waiting area around 11:30 AM before boarding arrangements begin.

These two ports are not the same place.

How do you get from Hanoi to the cruise port?

From central Hanoi, the journey by expressway generally takes around 2.5-3 hours, excluding passenger pickups, rest stops, or traffic delays.

If your cruise requires check-in at 11:30 AM, book an early departure according to the operator's pickup schedule.

Leaving Hanoi independently at 9:30 AM and hoping to reach the ship by noon is unnecessarily risky.

Shared limousine transfers are convenient for one or two travelers.

For larger groups or families with substantial luggage, a private vehicle may be worth considering.

Compare the total cost rather than just the price per seat.

If you are staying on Cat Ba Island, confirm the actual boarding location before paying.

Not every cruise operating in Lan Ha Bay accepts passengers directly from Cat Ba.

Are Ha Long Bay cruises safe?

Ha Long Bay cruise tourism operates under a system of waterway transport and accommodation regulations, inspections, and safety requirements.

However, no journey at sea can be guaranteed to be completely risk-free.

Quang Ninh has been strengthening inspections covering vessel condition, lifesaving equipment, fire prevention, operating documents, and crew qualifications.

Choose a properly authorized operator, confirm the vessel's identity, and follow the safety instructions provided on board.

Before booking

Check the exact name of the ship, the operating company, and the departure port.

One cruise brand may operate several different vessels.

The commercial name used on a booking website may not be enough to identify the actual ship.

Ask for written confirmation of the vessel, cabin category, passenger numbers, and itinerary.

Families with children should ask about appropriately sized life jackets, bed arrangements, railings, and age restrictions for activities.

Elderly travelers or passengers with limited mobility should check the stairs, elevators, boarding procedures, and transfers between boats.

Not all cruise ships are wheelchair accessible.

When you board

Pay attention to the safety briefing before departure.

Know where your life jacket is stored, how to put it on, which emergency exit is nearest your cabin, and where passengers should gather during an emergency.

Wear a life jacket as instructed when using smaller transfer boats.

Quang Ninh's rules for tourist vessels also require passengers to wear life jackets throughout transfer journeys.

For kayaking, stay within permitted areas and follow the staff's instructions.

Do not swim in anchorage areas, jump into the water from the deck, or enter restricted technical sections.

Deck surfaces and steps can become slippery during rain.

Wear footwear with a good grip and avoid exposed decks during strong winds.

Can cruises operate in bad weather?

The cruise company does not have sole authority to decide whether a vessel may leave port.

When weather conditions are unsafe, the relevant authorities may suspend departure permits.

Do not pressure an operator to sail simply because you have already paid for the cruise or booked a connecting flight.

A newer ship, higher ticket price, or luxury cabin cannot replace an appropriate safety decision in bad weather.

What is the best month for a Ha Long Bay cruise?

No month guarantees perfect cruising weather.

Summer can bring bright, sunny days that are enjoyable for outdoor activities, but it is also a period when travelers need to monitor thunderstorms and tropical storms.

Autumn is popular for sightseeing and relaxed cruising.

Even then, conditions can change when strong winds or other weather systems affect the bay.

Winter in northern Vietnam can be cool, cloudy, or foggy.

Sitting on an open deck at 6:00 AM in winter feels very different from relaxing by a pool during a hot summer afternoon.

Grey sky, mist on the peaks, and a cluster of boats still anchored in the bay.

Pack clothing that matches both the season and your planned activities.

If swimming or kayaking matters to you, check the forecast shortly before departure and ask whether the operator expects these activities to take place.

If your main goal is to sleep on board, enjoy dinner, and watch the limestone scenery, cooler days can be pleasant, provided cruising conditions remain safe.

What happens if the cruise is canceled because of weather?

Read the cancellation, rescheduling, and refund conditions before paying.

Do not automatically assume a weather-related cancellation guarantees a full refund.

Equally, do not assume every deposit is non-refundable.

The outcome depends on the booking conditions and the seller's confirmed policy.

Ask about three situations: the vessel is not permitted to depart, the cruise begins but must return early, and certain activities such as kayaking are canceled.

If transportation from Hanoi is part of your booking, ask what happens to that cost as well.

International travelers should leave a reasonable buffer before important onward flights rather than scheduling their overnight cruise on the very last day of the trip.

Should Vietnamese and international travelers choose different cruises?

The scenery is the same.

The practical differences involve language support, payment arrangements, food preferences, and transportation.

For Vietnamese families

Prioritize ships with appropriately sized cabins, nearby rooms, or connecting cabins if you are traveling as a large group.

Families with young children should ask about meal times, suitable dishes, and extra beds.

Elderly relatives who are not comfortable on boats may prefer an itinerary with fewer transfers and less physically demanding excursions.

A one-night cruise is generally easier to organize than two nights, particularly when the family also wants to visit other places in Quang Ninh.

For international visitors

Check whether the operator provides English-speaking staff or guides during excursions.

Confirm the full English name of the departure port, the meeting point, and transportation arrangements from Hanoi.

Vegetarians and guests with food allergies or dietary restrictions should notify the operator before booking.

Do not wait until the first dinner on board to request a different menu.

If a cruise is priced in US dollars, read the occupancy conditions carefully.

The phrase "per person, twin sharing" means the rate applies to one guest sharing a cabin with another person. It is not the price of the entire room.

Bring your passport or other required identification for check-in and overnight accommodation registration.

Should you book directly with the cruise operator or through an agency?

Booking directly with the operator can make it easier to confirm the exact vessel, cabin conditions, and current packages.

Booking through an agency may be more convenient if you want transportation from Hanoi and the cruise included in one reservation.

Neither option is always cheaper.

What matters is the final price, cancellation conditions, and who is responsible for handling changes.

Before paying, check the following:

  • Vessel: Has the exact ship and cabin category been confirmed?
  • Cruising area: Does the itinerary cover Ha Long, Lan Ha, Bai Tu Long, or a combination?
  • Departure port: Is it Tuan Chau or Ha Long International Cruise Port?
  • Price: Is the rate per person or per cabin? Are taxes, port fees, and meals included?
  • Extras: How are transfers, kayaking, bamboo boats, drinks, spa treatments, and child surcharges charged?
  • Cancellation: What happens if weather conditions force a cancellation or itinerary change?

If an agency only sends luxury cabin photographs, describes the cruise as "5-star," and asks for a deposit without confirming these details, consider another provider.

There is no need to rush into payment just because an advertisement claims that only one cabin remains.

Which Ha Long Bay cruise should you choose?

Your travel styleRecommended cruise
First visit to Ha Long Bay2 days, 1 night on the classic Ha Long Bay route
Romantic getaway2 days, 1 night with a private balcony cabin
Kayaking and water activitiesLan Ha Bay, possibly 3 days and 2 nights
Quieter sightseeing routesBai Tu Long Bay
Families with children or elderly travelers2 days, 1 night with fewer transfers and suitable facilities
Prefer sleeping in a hotel6-8 hour day cruise
Want a full second day exploring the bay3 days, 2 nights

If this is your first trip and you have two days available, a 2-day, 1-night Ha Long Bay cruise is the easiest choice. Travelers who enjoy kayaking, slower sightseeing, and spending more time away from shore should consider two nights in Lan Ha or Bai Tu Long Bay. If your budget or schedule is limited, a well-planned day cruise can still give you an excellent introduction to the scenery.

FAQ

How much does a 2-day, 1-night Ha Long Bay cruise cost?

In 2026, the Ambassador I overnight package starts from VND 4,200,000 per person. The actual price depends on your travel date, cabin category, number of guests, and included services. Solo travelers should check the single supplement, while couples should request the total cost for two people sharing one cabin.

Does a 5-star Ha Long Bay cruise include meals and transfers?

Overnight cruise packages usually include scheduled meals, but transportation from Hanoi is not always included. Operators such as Paradise Elegance and Ambassador offer packages with different transfer arrangements. Drinks, kayaking, and spa treatments may also cost extra. Read the inclusions carefully before booking.

Are Ha Long Bay cruises safe?

Cruise ships operate under Vietnam's waterway safety regulations and must meet applicable operating requirements. Choose an authorized operator, follow the onboard safety briefing, wear a life jacket when required, and obey the captain's instructions. Authorities can suspend departures when weather conditions are unsafe.

Is a Ha Long Bay cruise worth it?

Yes, particularly for first-time visitors to northern Vietnam who want to experience the limestone scenery from the water. A 2-day, 1-night cruise is worthwhile if you want an evening and early morning on the bay. If your priority is simply visiting the main attractions, a six- to eight-hour day cruise may be enough at a lower cost.

Is Lan Ha Bay better than Ha Long Bay for an overnight cruise?

Choose Ha Long Bay if you want to visit Sung Sot Cave, Ti Top Island, and the most famous attractions. Lan Ha Bay is better suited to kayaking, relaxation, and exploring areas around Cat Ba. Bai Tu Long Bay appeals to travelers looking for routes with fewer sightseeing vessels. All three offer overnight cruises, and the specific itinerary matters more than the name of the bay.
