Da Lat 5-star hotels: stay in the city center or by Tuyen Lam Lake?

Da Lat's 5-star hotels range from historic properties near Xuan Huong Lake to secluded resorts in the pine forests around Tuyen Lam Lake. If you want to be out in town every day for meals and lake walks, stay central; if you would rather settle in and rest where you are, pick Tuyen Lam, then compare rooms and prices.

The first thing to decide when booking a 5-star hotel in Da Lat is whether you want to explore the city every day or spend most of your time relaxing at the hotel. For lakeside walks, restaurants, and the night market, Dalat Palace is the more convenient choice. For pine forests, lake views, and a quieter holiday, Dalat Edensee near Tuyen Lam Lake makes more sense.

There are also options between those two extremes: modern hotels along Hung Vuong Street, villa-style properties near Nguyen Du Street, and large hotels around the Valley of Love. Their locations, prices, and facilities vary considerably, even though they all compete in the upscale accommodation market.

Does Da Lat have 5-star hotels? How many are there?

Yes. Da Lat has both upscale city hotels and luxury resorts in its surrounding hills and lakeside areas.

Some of the main properties worth comparing are Dalat Palace Heritage Hotel, MerPerle Dalat Hotel, Grand Mercure Dalat, Ladalat Hotel, Imperial Dalat, and Dalat Edensee Lake Resort & Spa.

However, there is an important distinction between a hotel officially recognized as a 5-star property and one labeled five stars by an online booking platform.

A resort with a swimming pool, golf course, or attractive villas is not automatically an officially recognized 5-star property. In the Tuyen Lam Lake area, Dalat Edensee is recognized as a 5-star establishment, while Terracotta, Dalat Wonder, Cereja, and Swiss-Belresort Tuyen Lam are 4-star properties. If an official 5-star classification is essential to your booking, ask the hotel directly before you pay.

Which area of Da Lat is best for a 5-star hotel?

Instead of starting with a list of twenty hotels, narrow your search to three areas.

AreaWhat to expectBest for
Xuan Huong Lake - Tran PhuCentral location, easy access to restaurants and attractionsFirst-time visitors, 2-3-day trips
Hung Vuong - Nguyen Du - Mai Anh DaoLarge hotels, villas, gardens, and more on-site facilitiesFamilies, travelers wanting spacious rooms
Tuyen Lam LakePine forests, lake scenery, and accommodation away from the busy streetsCouples, 2-4-night resort holidays, travelers using private cars

Xuan Huong Lake: best for a first visit

Xuan Huong Lake is the most useful landmark when looking for a 5-star hotel in Da Lat city center. Tran Phu, Le Dai Hanh, Nguyen Chi Thanh, and the streets around Da Lat Market are all within the central sightseeing area.

Staying here allows you to walk around the lake in the morning, stop at a café, return to your hotel in the afternoon, and go out for dinner without arranging transport for every activity.

Dalat Palace Heritage Hotel is the standout choice if you want historic architecture, spacious gardens, and a location close to the lake.

The trade-off is traffic. On weekend evenings, the streets around Da Lat Market, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, and the night market can get busy. For short distances, walking may be quicker than taking a car.

The city center works especially well for a short trip because you spend less time traveling. However, a room with a city or lake view is not necessarily completely quiet, and an older luxury hotel may not have the same facilities as a newly built property.

Hung Vuong and Nguyen Du: large hotels without going too far out

This is a good area to consider if you want an upscale hotel with restaurants, family rooms, and plenty of facilities, but would rather avoid staying directly beside the busy market.

Grand Mercure Dalat is on Nguyen Du Street, close to Da Lat Railway Station. MerPerle Dalat is at 1 Hung Vuong Street. Farther along the same road, you will find the Imperial hotel complex.

These properties offer a combination of sightseeing convenience and on-site relaxation, but their locations are not identical.

MerPerle is approximately 2.4 km from Da Lat Market. Grand Mercure is roughly a 20-minute walk from Xuan Huong Lake. The Imperial complex at 57-59 Hung Vuong is farther from the center, so you will generally need transport to reach the market area.

Tuyen Lam Lake: best when the resort is the main attraction

Tuyen Lam Lake lies south of central Da Lat. The surrounding tourism area has pine forests, winding hillside roads, hotels, and villa-style resorts.

Dalat Edensee is located near the lake, approximately 10 km from central Da Lat. Allow roughly 25-35 minutes by car from the city center, depending on your starting point and traffic.

Other resorts around the lake are not necessarily close to one another. Roads often wind around the hills, so two properties that appear nearby on a map may still be inconvenient to reach on foot.

If you have only one night and want to try several city restaurants, visit the night market, and see multiple attractions, staying at Tuyen Lam Lake will involve extra travel.

For a three-day, two-night resort holiday, however, the lakeside area has a clear advantage. You can visit Truc Lam Zen Monastery, explore part of the lake, and spend the rest of your time at the resort.

The best 5-star hotels in Da Lat to compare

Dalat Palace Heritage Hotel

Historic architecture in the city center

Photo: Trần Huy Phương
The main building seen from the lawn below, with pines lining the grounds.

Dalat Palace Heritage Hotel stands close to Xuan Huong Lake, on a landscaped property with gardens and steps leading up to the main building.

Originally built in 1922, the hotel was restored in 1995, preserving much of its French colonial architectural character.

The property has two accommodation sections: a heritage wing with 43 rooms and a modern wing with 30 rooms. This distinction matters because the experience is not exactly the same in both sections.

If you are booking Dalat Palace specifically for its architecture, look at the Heritage room categories first. If room size, views, and modern conveniences matter more than the building's history, compare the newer rooms as well.

The hotel offers Le Rabelais restaurant, which specializes in French-style dining, along with afternoon tea, spa services, and other amenities.

The main advantage is the location. You can go out for dinner or visit the central streets without traveling all the way from Tuyen Lam Lake.

The drawback is that historic rooms may not suit travelers who prefer contemporary interiors or the layout and facilities of a newly constructed hotel. Check photographs of the exact room category you are booking, rather than relying on pictures of the building's exterior.

MerPerle Dalat Hotel

A modern hotel with family-friendly facilities

Photo: MerPerle Dalat Hotel
MerPerle's white blocks and gray mansard roofs on Hung Vuong Street.

MerPerle Dalat Hotel is worth considering if you prefer modern rooms, a large hotel building, and plenty of facilities under one roof.

MerPerle has 389 rooms across eight categories, ranging from Deluxe rooms to various suites.

A Deluxe Double measures 32 m², while the Deluxe Family is 40 m² and designed for three guests.

The property has the Four Seasons heated swimming pool, a gym, spa, and children's play area.

The following are the hotel's operating hours:

  • Heated swimming pool: 6:00 AM-8:00 PM.
  • Children's play area: 8:00 AM-10:00 PM.
  • Breakfast buffet at Rustic Restaurant: 6:00-10:00 AM.

Its location also makes it convenient for exploring Lam Dong Museum and Da Lat Railway Station, both on the eastern side of the city.

MerPerle is particularly practical for families with children because the hotel has both a swimming pool and a play area.

For three adults, compare the Deluxe Family with the cost of two standard Deluxe rooms. The better option depends on the dates and the hotel's occupancy policy.

The hotel is on Hung Vuong Street, not immediately beside the night market. If you want dinner around Nguyen Chi Thanh or Phan Boi Chau, you should budget for a short taxi ride.

Grand Mercure Dalat

Villa-style accommodation near Da Lat Railway Station

Grand Mercure Dalat occupies a villa-style complex with gardens, greenery, and French-inspired architecture.

Accor markets the property as a 5-star hotel, with 131 rooms and suites spread across 12 villas.

This is an interesting middle ground between a central hotel and a countryside resort. You get landscaped grounds and a quieter setting without going as far out as Tuyen Lam Lake.

Da Lat Railway Station is within walking distance. From there, you can continue sightseeing around Lam Dong Museum or head toward Xuan Huong Lake.

The night market is farther away, so a car is more practical on cold or rainy evenings.

One detail worth checking is room access. Accommodation is distributed among several villas rather than concentrated in a single tower with lifts serving every floor.

If you are traveling with elderly relatives or carrying heavy luggage, ask which villa your room is in, whether there are stairs, and how guests move around the property.

Imperial Dalat

A new hotel option on Hung Vuong Street

The Imperial hotel complex on Hung Vuong Street at dusk

If you are searching for a newly opened 5-star hotel in Da Lat, the Imperial complex is one of the first places to investigate.

There are two similarly named hotels in the complex, and it is important not to confuse them.

Best Western Premier Imperial Dalat began operating in late 2025. Imperial Dalat Hotel, BW Premier Collection then opened in April 2026.

The hotel that opened in 2026 has 402 rooms.

The complex caters to both leisure and business travelers, with restaurants, event spaces, and a wide range of facilities.

The hotel has a heated pool, gym, spa, and children's play area. These are useful features if you are traveling with family or expect to spend plenty of time inside the hotel.

Its location along Hung Vuong Street makes more sense for travelers with a private car or those using taxis. It is not the ideal place if you want to walk to Da Lat Market every evening.

With any newly opened hotel, confirm which facilities are fully operational, especially the restaurants, spa, swimming pool, and children's play areas. Do not assume that every service shown in promotional photographs is included in the room rate.

Deluxe Corner from about VND 2,400,000 per night including taxes and fees; member rate VND 2,040,000
Best for
Travelers wanting a newer hotel, families looking for extensive facilities, business groups, and guests who prefer contemporary rooms over heritage interiors

Ladalat Hotel

Convenient for the Valley of Love

Aerial view of Ladalat Hotel on Mai Anh Dao Street, with pine forest, a lake and mountains behind, Da Lat
Photo: Ladalat Hotel
Ladalat from above, with pine forest, a lake and mountains behind it.

Ladalat Hotel is situated near the Valley of Love, approximately 4 km from Da Lat Market.

The hotel is a large property with semi-classical architecture, an indoor swimming pool, gym, spa, children's play area, and rooftop garden.

Some room categories are spacious enough for families who want more room to relax.

However, you should pay close attention to the exact room name and location before booking.

For example, Ladalat's Superior rooms are located on level B2. That is quite different from staying in a room on an upper floor with panoramic views.

A lower room rate does not necessarily include a balcony or a view of the surrounding valley.

Ladalat works well for families planning to visit the Valley of Love, Mai Anh Dao Street, and attractions in northern Da Lat.

If you want to walk to the night market every evening, Dalat Palace has a more convenient location.

Address
106A Mai Anh Dao Street, Da Lat, Lam Dong Province

Best for
Families with young children, groups wanting spacious rooms, and travelers planning to explore the northern side of Da Lat

Dalat Edensee Lake Resort & Spa

A lakeside resort surrounded by pine forests

Aerial view of Dalat Edensee: the main building and villas among pine forest on a peninsula surrounded by Tuyen Lam Lake
Photo: Dalat Edensee Lake Resort & Spa
Edensee's main building and villas sit on a pine-covered peninsula in Tuyen Lam Lake.

Dalat Edensee is one of the main properties to consider when the purpose of your trip is to relax near Tuyen Lam Lake.

The resort sits among pine forests, with rooms and villas offering garden, hillside, or lake views depending on the category.

The setting feels very different from a high-rise hotel in the city.

You can walk around the grounds, read, enjoy a meal at the resort, or spend part of a day exploring the lake area.

However, booking Edensee and planning to return to the city center three times a day is not a particularly sensible use of your holiday.

The resort offers several room types, including Suite Garden View and Suite Lake View.

The most important detail to check at Edensee is the view. Not every room overlooks Tuyen Lam Lake.

If sitting in your room and looking out at the water is one of the main reasons for booking, choose the correct Lake View category and ask the hotel to confirm it on your reservation.

The resort grounds are extensive, and some rooms are a fair distance from the restaurants or shared facilities.

Families with elderly relatives or young children should ask about internal transport and the distance from their room to the main facilities.

Rates change with the dates, so enter your arrival date, departure date, and number of guests to see the actual bookable total.

One thing worth noticing is that a newer, larger hotel is not necessarily more expensive than an established heritage property.

Dalat Palace charges partly for its architecture and central location. MerPerle and Imperial focus more heavily on room variety, modern facilities, and their ability to serve a large number of guests.

Do not select a hotel simply because it has the lowest advertised price. Room categories, occupancy limits, and breakfast packages can significantly change the total cost.

Which 5-star hotel is closest to Da Lat city center?

If you define the city center as Da Lat Market and the Xuan Huong Lake area, Dalat Palace is the most convenient option among the hotels compared here.

You can walk around the lake, explore the central streets, and find restaurants in the evening without relying entirely on taxis.

Grand Mercure and MerPerle are still convenient for sightseeing, but they are not immediately beside the market.

There are three useful ways to narrow your choice.

For the most convenient city-center location: Choose Dalat Palace, particularly if you will spend most of the day exploring attractions outside the hotel.

For modern rooms, a swimming pool, and extensive facilities: Consider MerPerle. It is farther from the market but still practical if you are comfortable taking taxis.

For a villa-style garden atmosphere: Consider Grand Mercure. Its landscaped setting and proximity to Da Lat Railway Station make it a good compromise, although you will probably want transport for the night market.

Some properties along Nguyen Du and Hung Vuong are described as being in central Da Lat in a broad geographical sense.

That does not mean you can walk to the night market in five minutes.

International travelers searching for "5-star hotel in Da Lat city center" should check the actual map location rather than relying only on a booking platform's City Centre filter.

Da Lat 5-star resorts: Tuyen Lam Lake or the hills?

Not everyone looking for a 5-star resort needs to stay beside a lake. The two settings offer noticeably different experiences.

Resorts around Tuyen Lam Lake

The main attractions are lake scenery, pine forests, and a setting removed from the city.

Dalat Edensee is a good example.

Resorts in this area generally suit travelers who want to relax rather than spend every day sightseeing. Staying for at least two nights gives you enough time to enjoy the grounds, restaurants, and facilities.

Other resorts worth considering around Tuyen Lam include Terracotta, Swiss-Belresort, and Dalat Wonder, but remember to distinguish their official star classifications from the labels used by booking websites.

Do not assume every resort near Tuyen Lam has direct lake views.

Swiss-Belresort is known for its hillside and golf course setting, while other properties have rooms surrounded by pine forests.

Hillside resorts and villa hotels

This category is worth exploring if you want gardens, trees, and villa-style accommodation while retaining relatively easy access to the city.

Grand Mercure Dalat offers this combination.

Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort & Spa, on Le Lai Street, is another option for travelers who appreciate historic villas and landscaped grounds.

Ana Mandara has 17 restored villas spread across approximately seven hectares.

It is particularly appealing to travelers interested in older architecture and a quieter garden environment rather than a modern hotel tower.

Photo: Sandra Cohen-Rose and Colin Rose
An Ana Mandara villa with yellow walls, wooden shutters and a white balcony.

However, Ana Mandara is officially rated four stars, even though some booking sites display five, so it is not counted here among the 5-star properties.

If the atmosphere matters more to you than the official classification, it remains worth considering separately.

Choose a hillside property if you still want to spend plenty of time exploring Da Lat. Choose Tuyen Lam Lake if the resort itself is the main destination.

How to compare 5-star hotel prices in Da Lat

Room rates vary by date, room category, number of guests, and payment conditions.

Weekends and peak holiday periods can also make a noticeable difference in Da Lat.

Before booking, check the following details.

Are breakfast, taxes, and fees included?

A room advertised at VND 2.5 million before taxes cannot be compared directly with a VND 2.7 million room that includes taxes and breakfast.

Compare the final amount for your entire stay, not just the first number shown in the search results.

A hotel may have several restaurants and dining experiences, but that does not mean every meal is included in the room rate.

Are there weekend or holiday surcharges?

Resort packages often have specific conditions.

For example, Ana Mandara's Return to Slow package starts from VND 4,990,000 for three days and two nights, valid for stays until November 30, 2026, with bookings accepted until November 20, 2026.

The package carries a weekend surcharge of VND 800,000 and does not apply during certain peak periods.

This is a two-night package price, not a single-night rate.

When comparing two properties, calculate the cost for the same number of nights, guests, and cancellation conditions.

A package including meals or spa treatments may offer better value than a room-only rate, but it may also require advance payment or have stricter cancellation terms.

What should families with children check?

At a 5-star hotel, a room for two adults does not automatically include two children at no additional cost.

Check maximum occupancy, the ages for which children stay free, extra-bed charges, and breakfast policies.

MerPerle has a Deluxe Family category. Ladalat offers family accommodation and larger room types. Imperial also advertises family-oriented rooms.

Compare a family room with two connecting rooms.

Connecting rooms can be more comfortable when children are older, but you should get confirmation from the hotel that the connecting arrangement is available for your dates.

Lake view, hill view, or city view?

This is one of the easiest details to overlook.

At Dalat Edensee, Garden View and Lake View refer to different room categories.

MerPerle offers city and hillside views, while not every room at Dalat Palace faces Xuan Huong Lake.

Hotel advertisements frequently use photographs taken from restaurants, swimming pools, or shared terraces. These do not necessarily represent the view from every guest room.

If the scenery is the main reason you are paying more, make sure the exact view category appears on your booking confirmation.

Should you book early?

For Tet, national holidays, and busy weekends, checking availability earlier is sensible, especially if you need a family room, a suite, or a particular lake-view category.

However, do not rush into a non-refundable booking simply because a website says that few rooms remain.

Compare the cancellation deadline with your travel arrangements and the possibility of changing dates.

A slightly more expensive room with a clear cancellation policy may be a better choice if you have not yet finalized your flights.

Is a newly opened 5-star hotel better than an older hotel?

A newer property can be a better choice if you prioritize contemporary interiors, modern equipment, and a wide range of facilities in one building.

But newer does not automatically mean better for every holiday.

Imperial Dalat is a notable addition to the hotel scene during 2025-2026. MerPerle is also relatively new compared with Da Lat's long-established heritage hotels.

These properties appeal to travelers looking for heated pools, gyms, children's play areas, restaurants, and family-friendly room configurations.

Dalat Palace, by contrast, dates back to 1922.

Its grounds and historic architecture offer something a newly constructed hotel cannot easily reproduce.

If you want to experience the atmosphere of old Da Lat, Dalat Palace is the more appropriate choice.

If you prefer modern rooms, indoor activities, and plenty of facilities without leaving the hotel, look at MerPerle or Imperial.

Those answers are more useful than simply comparing opening years.

Getting to your 5-star hotel in Da Lat

From Lien Khuong Airport

Lien Khuong Airport is outside central Da Lat, so travel times depend on your hotel and the route taken.

For hotels in the center, allow approximately 40-60 minutes by car under normal road conditions.

Hotels along Hung Vuong Street and resorts around Tuyen Lam Lake may require different routes, so check the journey to your specific property.

For families with young children or elderly relatives, a prearranged hotel transfer or taxi with a clearly confirmed fare is often the easiest option.

When booking a transfer, provide the hotel's full name and address.

This is particularly important for the Imperial complex because the two similarly named hotels can easily be confused.

If you arrive late in the evening, a direct transfer to the hotel entrance is generally more convenient than changing between different forms of transport.

From the Da Lat interprovincial bus station

Many long-distance coaches arrive at Da Lat's main interprovincial bus station.

From there, you can take a taxi or use a ride-hailing service.

MerPerle is approximately 2.1 km from the bus station.

For other hotels, enter the exact pickup point and destination in your preferred transport app to check the route and estimated fare.

If you are staying near Tuyen Lam Lake, confirm the correct resort entrance and reception area.

Some properties cover large grounds, and the main guest drop-off point may be some distance from your room.

Should you rent a motorbike?

In the city center, it is possible to combine walking and taxis without renting a motorbike.

If you are staying at Tuyen Lam Lake and want to explore several attractions, a private car hired for individual journeys or the full day can be more comfortable for a family.

Roads around the lake run through hills, with slopes, bends, and occasional mist during changing weather.

Three days and two nights: city center or Tuyen Lam Lake?

These two sample itineraries show how your hotel location changes the trip.

Option A: stay at Dalat Palace or near the city center

  1. Day 1

Check in, the lake, the night market

Arrive at the hotel, leave your luggage or check in according to hotel policy. Spend the afternoon walking around Xuan Huong Lake and Lam Vien Square. Have dinner in the central area, then explore Da Lat Night Market.

  2. Day 2

Railway station and the east side

Visit Da Lat Railway Station and attractions on the eastern side of the city in the morning. Spend the afternoon at a café or return to the hotel for a rest. In the evening, consider dining at Le Rabelais or exploring restaurants in town.

  3. Day 3

    Last walk and check out

Have breakfast, take a final walk around the lake or buy local specialties, then check out before the hotel's deadline.

This itinerary works well for first-time visitors, couples, and groups who want to try restaurants and see different parts of the city.

You do not need to spend hours in a car every day.

Option B: stay at Dalat Edensee near Tuyen Lam Lake

  1. Day 1

Check in and explore the grounds

Arrive at the resort, check in, and spend the afternoon exploring the grounds. Have dinner at the resort or arrange transport to a restaurant in advance.

  2. Day 2

Truc Lam Zen Monastery and the lake

Have breakfast, visit Truc Lam Zen Monastery, and explore a few attractions near Tuyen Lam Lake. Return to the resort in the afternoon and enjoy the facilities included in your booking.

  3. Day 3

    Slow morning and check out

Have breakfast, take a walk, enjoy the scenery, and check out.

This itinerary is more suitable for travelers who genuinely want to relax.

Trying to add the night market, northern Da Lat attractions, and several distant cafés to the same day would defeat much of the purpose of staying at a lakeside resort.

You could also spend one night in the center and one night at Tuyen Lam Lake.

However, on a three-day, two-night trip, changing hotels means packing, checking out, traveling, and waiting to check in again.

Only do this if experiencing both types of accommodation is a priority.

Booking tips for international travelers

International visitors can find these properties using their official English names: Dalat Palace Heritage Hotel, MerPerle Dalat Hotel, Grand Mercure Dalat, Ladalat Hotel, and Dalat Edensee Lake Resort & Spa.

Before booking, verify the hotel's full name, address, and passport check-in requirements.

A few booking terms are particularly useful:

  • Lake View: A room facing a lake. Check which lake and whether the view is direct or partial.
  • Garden View: A room facing landscaped grounds, not necessarily a lake.
  • Connecting Rooms: Two rooms with an internal connecting door, useful for families but subject to confirmation.
  • Breakfast Included: Breakfast is included according to the booking conditions.
  • Non-refundable: The booking cannot be refunded under the specified cancellation terms.
  • Airport Transfer: Airport transportation, which may carry an additional charge.

Dalat Palace is suitable for visitors interested in colonial-era architecture and a central location.

Grand Mercure can be booked through Accor's international reservation system, while Best Western properties have their own international booking channels.

For overseas travelers unfamiliar with Da Lat's roads, arranging airport transfers through the hotel is often easier than navigating independently to a remote lakeside resort.

If peace and quiet are particularly important, read recent guest reviews about noise, nearby construction, and room soundproofing before booking.

This is especially useful for rooms close to event venues or busy shared spaces.

Which Da Lat 5-star hotel should you choose?

Once you have narrowed down the location, the final choice becomes much easier.

First visit to Da Lat, two-night stay: Dalat Palace. Its position near Xuan Huong Lake makes sightseeing and dining convenient.

Family with two young children: Compare MerPerle, Ladalat, and Imperial. Check family room availability, heated pools, and maximum occupancy.

Honeymoon or anniversary: Choose Dalat Palace if you prefer historic architecture and dining in the city. Choose Dalat Edensee if you want privacy and lakeside relaxation.

Garden setting without staying too far away: Grand Mercure Dalat. Its villas are surrounded by greenery while remaining reasonably convenient for city sightseeing.

Newly opened hotel: Consider the Imperial complex, especially the BW Premier Collection property that opened in 2026. Make sure the booking confirmation names the correct hotel.

A holiday focused on relaxation: Dalat Edensee. Choose the room view you actually want and stay at least two nights to enjoy the surroundings.

If you are still deciding between a city-center 5-star hotel and a Tuyen Lam Lake resort for your first trip to Da Lat, choose Dalat Palace near Xuan Huong Lake. Pick Dalat Edensee instead when you want the resort to be the main part of your holiday, rather than spending each day exploring restaurants and attractions in town.

FAQ
